Behind the monthly quote

# What will I pay for care from start to finish?

Ask for a written total for the start and for an ordinary later month. Keep the visit, the medicine and any tests on separate lines so nothing gets lost.

## Which kind of price am I seeing?

As of September 26, 2026, a drug’s list price, cash offer and insured payment are distinct figures, even for the same product.

List price means the maker’s published price. A cash price means paying outside insurance. A copay is the part of a covered bill paid by the patient.

Ask which of those the ad shows. Ask what the same product will cost once any starting offer ends.

## Does the membership include medicine?

Online weight-care services may bill for medicine on top of their monthly membership charge. This was common in a small sample of national services checked on September 26, 2026.

Ask whether the quoted fee pays for the visit, follow-up, medicine, tests or shipping. Ask what happens if no medicine is prescribed. A written answer is easier to compare than a headline.

Then ask about cancellation, refunds and any payment taken in advance. Keep the regular price beside the starting price.

## What can Medicare pay for?

The prescription-drug benefit within Medicare is called Part D.

### The usual benefit still has a limit

As of September 26, 2026, ordinary Part D coverage excludes medicines when used only for weight loss.

[Read the Medicare program overview](https://www.cms.gov/medicare/coverage/prescription-drug-coverage/medicare-glp-1-bridge)

Part D may pay for a medicine used to treat another accepted condition, such as type 2 diabetes. This was the rule on September 26, 2026. Your plan must cover that drug and approve the request.

Advance approval is often called prior authorization: the plan reviews the request before it pays. Ask about the exact drug, its prescribed use and your own plan.

## What is the temporary Medicare program?

GLP-1 is a chemical message that helps the body manage hunger and blood sugar. Certain medicines act like that message.

### A monthly payment if you qualify

The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge offers certain medicines to eligible Part D members. The copay is $50 for a monthly supply, as of September 26, 2026.

[Read Medicare’s weight-loss drug page](https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/weight-loss-drugs)

Terms checked on September 26, 2026, set the program’s dates. July 1, 2026, marks the program’s start; its last day is December 31, 2027.

As of September 26, 2026, the Bridge’s age rule is 18 or older. Age alone does not qualify you. You also need a prescription and advance approval.

Your weight and health also matter. A past heart attack or stroke, or certain heart and kidney problems, may count toward the health rules. They do not qualify you on their own.

If you have type 2 diabetes, the request goes through ordinary Part D instead of the Bridge. Other health conditions can also send the request through ordinary Part D.

If Part D has already paid for any GLP-1 medicine for you during 2026, the Bridge is unavailable to you for 2026.

Ask your plan whether it is one of the plan types that can use the Bridge. Ask the prescriber which weight and health rules apply to you before counting on this price.

As of September 26, 2026, the Bridge’s $50 payment does not count toward your yearly limit on spending for drugs covered by Part D. You keep paying it even after reaching that limit.

Medicare’s extra help for those with low incomes cannot reduce this $50 payment.

## What if I pay cash?

As of September 26, 2026, cash offers from drug makers for weight and diabetes medicines mostly ranged from $149 to $499 for a month’s supply. That range is not a quote for your prescription.

For example, semaglutide tablets (Ozempic, Wegovy) started at $149. Tirzepatide injections (Mounjaro) started at $499.

The product, strength and refill timing affect the offer; some late refills cost more.

In these offers, a month of tirzepatide means 28 days. Semaglutide prices cover a box of pens or a bottle of tablets.

Ask how many days your exact prescription will cover. Those prices pay for medicine alone. Ask for the cost of your prescription alongside visits, tests and other charges in El Mirage.

A deductible is the amount a plan asks you to pay before certain cover starts. A spending maximum caps your payments for covered care over a year.

As of September 26, 2026, cash paid through these drug-maker offers does not reduce your insurance deductible. It also does not count toward your plan’s yearly limit on what you pay.

Compare the whole care bill, then ask the plan which payments it will count.

Many cash offers and savings-card terms end on December 31, 2026; later prices need a fresh check, as of September 26, 2026.
